Shooting reported Sunday night
Three people have been arrested in connection with a shooting that left two people injured in Jackson.
According to Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones, Lesean Robins, 20, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle. Ariel Royal, 18, and Jamarri Holley, 20, are both charged with accessory after the fact, Jones said.
The shooting happened Sunday night outside Kroger on I-55 in Jackson.
According to the sheriff, the suspect opened fire on Aalia Lawson and Maurice Barney, both 20, after Lawson and Barney got into a vehicle in the store’s parking lot.
The sheriff said prior to the shooting, the suspects stalked the victims while they were shopping in the store. One of the suspects appeared to be taking pictures of the victims while they shopped.
“We believe that the motive at this particular time, the shooter and the victim that was wounded in the vehicle (Lawson), we believe there is some type of relationship where there was an ongoing relationship or a past relationship,” Jones said.
The victims were taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with gunshot wounds, Jones said. Barney remains in critical condition, while Lawson is recovering after being shot in the leg, Jones said.
