PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A woman turned herself in to Chesapeake police after a man was shot to death in Portsmouth late Christmas night.
The shooting happened on Allard Road, a small street near Victory Boulevard, across from the Bide-A-Wee Golf Course.
Portsmouth police said they were called about the shooting a few minutes after 11 p.m. Initially, details were sparse, but reporters at the scene saw officers focusing their attention outside, to the side of a home on Allard Road.
Later, a PPD spokeswoman said Johnnie Freeman, 34, was the man who died.
They said 28-year-old Ra’Mya Stewart had turned herself in Christmas night, related to the investigation.
They didn’t share any details about what happened, or a motive, but said Stewart was facing First Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm and Shooting in the Commission of a Felony charges.
She’s being held without bond in the Portsmouth City Jail.
