A man is dead following a shooting at a Des Moines bar.
Des Moines police were called to Zora Bar and Rooftop on Ingersoll Avenue at 12:05 a.m. Sunday.
Police found a 29-year-old Des Moines man with gunshot injuries in the bar’s parking lot.
He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Police described the scene as chaotic.
“There was a relatively large party event being held here, so it was pretty chaotic when we got here,” Sgt. Paul Parizek, with the Des Moines police said.
A nearby business owner described the deadly shooting as startling.
“I’ve been here since 2008, that’s when I moved my store from the East Village to Ingersoll and usually this street is pretty quiet. There’s traffic that comes up and down the road, but it’s pretty rare we have anything violent like this happen,” ZZZ Records owner Nate Niceswanger said. “I’ve never had any reason to feel like there was any danger. Like I needed to be careful. I go up and down here well after dark,” Niceswanger said.
No one else was hurt in the shooting.
Police have not identified the suspect or what led to the shooting.
